(2 John 1:6 AMP) - Signals

(2 John 1:6 AMP) "And what this love consists in is this: that we live and walk in accordance with and guided by His commandments (His orders, ordinances, precepts, teaching). This is the commandment, as you have heard from the beginning, that you continue to walk in love [guided by it and following it]."

I've followed this country's space program since it began early in my teenage years. The first color pictures of the planet earth were awesome to me. I was captivated by the rich colors of the planet.....its oceans........land masses......clouds and atmosphere.

On another occasion, I remember looking up one night and seeing our country's answer to Sputnik, the first satellite in space launched by the Soviet Union, moving as a faint white dot against the black sky.

In addition, the manned space program intrigued me.........particularly the time when man first walked on the moon. At that time all of this activity was heady for my imagination.............and I read everything I could read on space and its potential........looked at every movie or television program on the subject that I came across.

On one particular space flight............an unmanned probe was supposed to execute a maneuver which would take it into orbit around another planet. When the scientists at mission control tried to contact the spacecraft, however, they didn't get a response. After days of frantically trying to contact the spacecraft, the scientists gave up. They later surmised that the spacecraft's antennas were pointed away from the earth...............the result of an improper set of instructions sent to the craft earlier.

When I read the above scripture in the Amplified Version of the Bible, I thought of how my walk with God has been a lot like that spacecraft's journey. There were times in my walk that my "antennas" were pointed away from the Lord, and I appeared not to be receiving His "Signals."

But unlike the example above, the Lord issued a set of commands to me that woke me up, and repositioned me to start receiving "Signals" again from Him. Those "Signals" were His Abiding Love of me as one of His.

He reached out to me as only God could to get me to turn my life around so that I could again receive His Love and, then, send it to others. It is those "Signals" that will both sustain me and keep me on the proper course through this journey called life.
