The True Humanity of Jesus Christ
The United Pentecostal Church, after some controversy over a teaching on Jesus from believers linked with them in Ethiopia, felt the need to clarify their position regarding the humanity and deity of Jesus Christ. At the same time they took a stand against what has become known as the divine flesh teaching. The divine flesh teaching basically states that the flesh of Jesus was a special creation of God in the womb of Mary instead of coming from the human lineage of Mary. During the time of debate before any official stand was made, several letters made their way back and forth among the licensed ministers. Below are links that will take you to PDF files of some of these. Paul Price: May 20, 2003 letter to Kenneth Haney, General Superintendant. James Kilgore: August 15, 2003 letter to Paul Price, David Bernard, and all ministers in response to Paul Price's letter. Larry Booker: August 27, 2003 letter to James Kilgore and all ministers in response to James Kilgore's letter. Paul Price: September 3, 2003 letter to all ministers in response to James Kilgore's letter. David Bernard: September 10, 2003 letter to ministers in the South Texas District. T.F. Tenney: September 12, 2003 letter to the ministers of Louisiana. Tommy Hudson: September 2003 letter to what appears to be the ministers of the Western Zone. Anthony Tamel: The Divine Flesh Doctrine, Summer 2001 from the Forward Magazine (UPCI's official ministerial publication) Below is a brief clip of the late Billy Cole, a UPC minister, while in Ethiopia in 1993 with former UPC minister Teklemariam Gezahagne. This is what the organization lost over the divine flesh split.
