In The SilenceBy Lynne Johnson-Yohnk
In the silence, I wait.
I have been waiting for what seems like a long time.
Rising within me cries a loud voice.
The words threaten to escape my lips.
Voices and distractions from without threaten also to steal my peace.
"Why bother!! It's been too long! You're wasting your time!"
"Why would God bother with you!?" They cry.
In the wait, I lie, suspended between two worlds.
In this place of waiting, of trust, I listen to victories of old.
One day, He shall come and I will mount up with wings as an eagle.
He will pass by, touch my clipped wings and I will again mount up,
This I know.
For He has lifted me before.
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
